DR. MICHAEL K. AMPONSAH, MD, FACC
Dr. Amponsah completed his undergraduate education at K.N. University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
He then went on to receive his medical degree from the same institution in 2008.
He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel medical center, New Jersey in 2013 and 2016 respectively.
He pursued further training in structural heart, coronary, peripheral vascular interventions at the same institution completing his training in June 2017.
During his training, Dr. Amponsah performed over 600 percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular interventions including Impella supported high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions.
He performed over 120 structural heart procedures including percutaneous transcatheter heart valve replacements (TAVR), PFO/ASD (hole-in-heart) closures and alcohol septal ablation.
He is board certified in
- Adult Interventional Cardiology
- Adult Cardiovascular disease
- Internal medicine
- Adult Echocardiography including transesophageal echocardiography
He expects to be inducted as a fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular angiography and Interventions (SCAI) in 2018 and receive board certification in nuclear cardiology in 2018. Dr. Amponsah joined CNY Cardiology in 2017.
